The naval Blockade Runner badge was created on 1941.04.01. Interestingly, from 1943.08.13., soldiers in the Luftwaffe could also earn it. The badge was designed by Otto Placzek and manufactured by Schwerin & Sohn (as the war progressed, other manufacturers also produced it). Its round shape differs from war badges, the reason for this is that it was initially intended as a civilian badge.
