Lightly used, nice condition Deutsches Rotes Kreuz (DRK – German Red Cross) dagger.
The bakelite grip is undamaged, both securing screws firmly holding the two halves together.
Undamaged DRK logo on the crossguard.
The leather buffer is present at the base of the blade.
Very good condition blade, with one cutting edge, and one saw edge. Marked “Ges.Gesch.” at the base (Gesetzlich Geschützt = legally protected).
The tip is blunt-pointed, intended to avoid violation of the Geneva Convention prohibition regarding medical personnel carrying offensive weapons.
Black-painted scabbard with wear from use, but excellent color retention. All four screws present in the nickel-plated fittings.
Firmly retains the blade.
Original leather frog intact and supple, not cracked. Reverse marked “K”.
The DRK enlisted dress dagger was introduced in 1938 and its production was already discontinued in 1940.
